Al Ain Zoo

Al Ain Zoo is located at the foothills of Jebel Hafeet Mountains in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. It was founded in 1968 by the late Sheikh Zayed. He established this unique zoo in the Middle East with the vision of creating natural habitats for animals to live freely.

Al Ain Zoo is a true family destination, providing entertainment and learning experiences in a natural outdoor environment with over 4,000 collections of different species of animals.

Al Ain Zoo is mainly comprises Arabian oryx and antelopes, lechwe, gazelle, eland and can be found in the tree shaped paddocks which offer excellent breeding conditions. It also has a reptile house, monkey compunds, aquarium and aviary. The bird show featuring Predatory and night birds with the duration of 30 minutes starts at 7 in the evening.

Al Ain Zoo also features a big cat house. Pumas, black and spotted leopards, lions, and jaguars are found here. The majestic, proud and beautiful White lions from Sanbona, South Africa are simply unforgettable sight. The White lions are ambassadors for the African lion which are threatened by extinction as only 20,000 lions survive in the wild today.

Al Ain Zoo is open from 9AM-8PM. Ticket cost AED15 for adults and AED5 for kids aged 3 to 12 while infants are free up to 24 months. You need at least 2 hours if you wish to walk around the Al Ain Zoo. Wheelchairs are available on request. Al Ain Zoo has a train which operates from 10AM to 6PM.

Inside the Al Ain Zoo there is an air-conditioned restaurant serving lunch and dinner, snacks, tea, coffee and softdrinks.

Travel from Dubai to Al AIn will take 90 minutes. Emirates mini buses are available from Dubai, at Shindhaga Station, Bur Dubai. For those whose traveling with private cars, a large parking spaces are available at Al Ain Zoo.
